International Labour Organization . The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency dealing with labour issues. The main aims of the ILO are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

The International Labour Organization (ILO), based in Geneva, became the first specialized agency of the UN. It was founded in 1919, in response to a destructive war, to pursue a vision based on the premise that universal, lasting peace can be established only if it is based upon decent treatment of the workers.

The ILO Department of Statistics is the focal point to the United Nations on labour statistics. We develop international standards for better measurement of labour issues and enhanced international comparability; provide relevant, timely and comparable labour statistics; and help Member States develop and improve their labour statistics. Established by the Versailles Peace Treaty in 1919, the ILO's primary task is to develop, adopt and promote labour standards. The list of International Labour Organization Conventions contains 190 codifications of world wide labour standards. This project will provide guidance on how companies can avoid child labour and contribute to child labour remediation, whether in their own operations or in their supply chains, through appropriate policies, due diligence and remediation processes.
